This week, Flickr, the popular online photo sharing service (of which I am a member of – see my sidebar to the right), introduced a new feature called “Galleries.” Flickr gives its members a variety of different ways to organize their personal photos. However, the new Galleries feature allows you to organize your favorite photos from other photographers and share them with others.

For whatever you find interesting, fascinating, or mind-blowing on Flickr, galleries are a way to curate up to 18 public photos or videos of your fellow members into one place around a theme, an idea or just because.

I decided to take Flickr’s new Galleries feature for a quick test drive, and created some galleries for some of the locations that I’ve visited this past year, 2009. Each of the photos by other photographers contained in these galleries were added to my Flickr Favorites. They are among the most unique images that I’ve found while browsing on Flickr for photos of each location.
